Activities and Events
November 13 – NAAW Role model Hank Rogers announced with an article appearing in the weekly edition of the Inuvik Drum and an interview on CBC radio morning show.
November 16 - Sober Walk was held at 2 PM with approximately 30 participants representing a cross-section of the community. The Walk began at the Ingamo Hall Friendship Centre and ended at the Anglican Church Hall. Participants/walkers marched with a police escort and carried posters that had themes consistent with the purposes of NAAW. Food and refreshments were served at the Walk’s conclusion and included a presentation on addictions and a short talk by the NAAW role model, Hank Rogers.

November 17 – Open House at the Inuvik Homeless Shelter and opening of their Resource Centre with Addictions videos and promotion of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings held throughout the week at the Shelter
November 18 – AA meting held at Aurora College
November 19 – Inuvik Interagency Committee meeting that focused on the work of agencies helping individuals with addictions
November 17 – 21 – NAAW public displays at Inuvik Hospital, Aurora College, Inuvik Youth Centre, NWT Training Centre, Inuvik Homeless Shelter and Northmart retail department store.
November 20 - Full page advertisement promoting the aims of NAAW, pictures and location of local wellness and addictions service providers. This promotion was paid for by the participation of 4 major local organizations: Town of Inuvik, Beaufort Delta Health and Social Services Authority, Gwich’in Tribal council and Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.
November 21 – Wind up event held at Inuvik Youth Centre open to youth, agency representatives and members of the public. The food preparation was assisted by Healthy Foods North which emphasized healthy food choices. Food and entertainment provided.
